Hi! I am so glad to be a School Counselor at Wakelon Elementary! This is my 6th year as a School Counselor and I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve Wakelon students and families.
I am originally from Wilson County where I grew up in a small town named Lucama. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Hospitality Leadership with a minor in Business Administration. I also have a Master's of Science degree from East Carolina University in Counselor Education and I am National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBCT) certified.
Working with children is my passion; I enjoy working as a School Counselor because I get to help mold, shape, and equip students, regardless of background or circumstance, skills needed to be mentally and emotionally healthy. By doing whole classroom lessons, individual counseling sessions, and small group sessions I am able to reach a lot of students.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, going to church, crafting, trying new foods, traveling, shopping, reading, and going to the spa.
I look forward to working with your students, families, and the community!

Hello Parents and Students,
My name is Dr. Johnson and I am one of the amazing Counselors at Wakelon E/S. My focus groups are 1st, 3rd and 4th grade students and I am privileged that you have allowed me to work with your child(ren) this school year. I joined the Wakelon family December 2022 as a co-counselor and have not looked back yet. I have brought over 22 years of school counseling and private practice experience to Wake County as transferable skills.
Some of my favorite things to do are playing chess, automotive repair, gardening, music and laughing. I enjoy talking to people (especially children) because stories can be fasinating. This will be a productive and exciting year for staff as well as students and I am excited to begin. In conclusion, I look forward to meeting you all and having a wonderful learning experience.
